MARC Stadium: Where young athletes get their chance to be recruited

For hundreds of young basketballers, MARC Stadium is the place where hard work, early mornings and countless training sessions finally lead to real opportunity.
 

With more than 1,500 athletes, families and spectators in attendance, the AAU Christmas Classic created a stage where kids were not just competing, but also being recognised.
 

The tournament brought together boys and girls across multiple age groups, all playing in an environment known for opening doors.

The AAU Christmas Classic attracts college coaches and scouts from Australia and the USA, giving young athletes the rare chance to showcase their skills in front of recruiters from NCAA Division I, II, and III programs, junior colleges and leading universities.
 

Venue Manager Stephane Tabardin said, “The atmosphere across the weekend reflected what sport at its best can offer young people. Being selected as the only venue in the state to host the AAU season was huge for MARC Stadium and a responsibility we all took seriously.
 

“For a lot of these kids, this is more than just a game. It’s an opportunity to be noticed, to believe in themselves and to see what might be possible for their future,” Stephane said.
 

The tournament also marked a fitting way to close a strong year for MARC Stadium. Across the year, the team delivered six major events, from elite competitions to community festivals and summits, each one built around creating meaningful experiences for the people who walk through the doors.
 

“In 2026, MARC Stadium will continue to play its role in supporting young athletes, strengthening community connections for all and providing pathways that extend far beyond the court,” Stephane concluded.
